Market Description
Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) are tradable instruments that verify electricity was generated from certified renewable energy sources such as wind, solar, hydro, or biomass. Each certificate provides traceable proof that one megawatt-hour (MWh) of renewable electricity was produced and supplied to the grid.
EACs enable corporates, brokers, and institutional buyers to demonstrate renewable energy consumption, comply with Scope 2 reporting under the GHG Protocol, and meet sustainability targets. Certified renewable energy certificates are also increasingly used to support RE100 commitments and local regulatory requirements.
The ECM EAC Market provides a transparent, secure environment for trading spot EACs such as YEK-G and I-REC certificates. All forward or structured supply agreements linked to future renewable electricity production are managed separately under the Environmental OTC Derivatives Market.
